Tonight we are here to mark an end, likewise a new beginning – the turn-over
of  leadership of our club.

Before anything else, allow me first to thank each and everyone of you for all
of the assistance extended to me during my incumbency as President. No
task was insurmountable with everyone lending a helping hand. Thank you
too for bearing with my shortcomings oftentimes beyond my control. Hurrying
up when time was of essence.

Although there is a change in leadership, our club must have a continuing
vision, foremost of which is to strengthen our club, to make sure there is
strong effective club administration, continued drive for value membership,
and that our club runs a variety of productive service projects. Let’s remain all
partners to attain these goals.

Today, we open a new chapter, a new door, that leads to new dreams, new
challenges, new joys and probably heartaches. The bottom line is “By what
we do we are special.”

Special wishes to President Kiko and the new set of officers.

Charter Anniversary & Turnover Ceremony
Ritz Tower de Leyte, Tacloban City
June 22, 2007
Charter Day celebrations always evoke pleasant memories. It usually brings
back the victories and triumphs that we achieved over the years which we can
be proud of. Our club, the Rotary Club of San Juanico celebrates today its
32nd anniversary. On occasions such as this, we cannot help but recall the
men who gave honor and prestige to this organization. They are the people
who sacrificed and invested almost the better part of their lives if only to make
the club effective and true to its purpose. Some are no longer around, while
others are just in the sidelines joining the club in spirit while giving way to the
young blood who are in the frontlines.

As we enter the 32nd year of our club existence, I would like to rally our
officers and members to be true to our calling as Rotarians. Let us be
inspired by the triumphs and victories of those who were ahead of us and let
us be guided by their wisdom. It is a great honor to our club for having
produce three Past District Governors: Naning Militante, Roque Tiu and Pabs
Quianzon. Aand to think that these three men are still currently in the thick of
things or major activities of the club. That make us a cut above the rest.

As I accept the mantle of leadership of the club for the Rotary Year 2007-2008,
allow me to congratulate the Immediate Past President Ronnie Ponferrada for
a job well done. It has been a tough year, I know, but with the cooperation
from the officers and members, we are able to uphold the clubs tradition of
excellence.

To all members of the club, CONGRATULATIONS and MORE POWER!

Greetings! It gives me great pride and overflowing elation to congratulate the
officers, directors and members of the Rotary Club of San Juanico on their
32ndCharter Anniversary and Turnover Ceremony.

Being a fellow Rotarian who has been given the distinctive opportunity to
become Assistant Governor, I am encouraging you, therefore, to reflect
carefully upon the ways in which we can demonstrate our commitment to
service and love for humanity.  I know you have been doing these for 32
years, but with the strength of membership, we must continue our efforts to
fight hunger, ensure clean water, reach a literate world, and provide
education for everyone.  In our ambition to work for a better world, let us seek
cooperation from among ourselves and from other entities working with the

same issues. Let us also be reminded always of the motto “Service above
Self” for this openly declares the real essence of this organization, which has
enabled us to make a difference in our respective communities. Let us also
be instruments of love and service – unselfish love and service, that is — the
Rotary way.

As you celebrate your Charter Anniversary, you also mark President Ronnie’s
turning over of the gavel and bell to another young and energetic leader in the
person of Incoming President Francisco “Kiko” Darang.  It is my hope that he
and his team would continue the legacy that their predecessors have made.

Congratulations to all and Mabuhay!
